RUNNING FOR BOXING FITNESS

Running for boxing fitness has loads of health benefits. It helps build strong bones and strengthens muscles. It does wonders for your cardiovascular health.

Helps maintain a healthy weight and helps with the burning calories to lose weight.

Professional prizefighters have incorporated running into their training regimens from the beginnings of the sport. Boxers have to be in tremendous physical shape to throw punches for what amounts to a little over 30 minutes.

Why is it so important for shape?

Being a retired professional fighter with more than 40 years of experience under my belt. I will tell you that endurance dwindles a little after two days of not exerting yourself in exercise.

Studies have conclusively shown that wind capacity declines if individual stops normal workout routines.

I personally dont need any studies to tell me that. After being in the fight game for so many years. I know from personal experience. If a fighter is hitting the heavy bag 10 rounds.

If this is a routine he/she has kept for at least a month. And he takes 4 to 5 days of from that normal workout routine. He will tire after 7 rounds when he resumes his/her workout.

If your training to 3 minute rounds. Your average punch rate volume should be at or around 150 punches a round for professionals. Amateur’s I would recommend only 40 to 50 punches a round. Amateur’s should focus more on technique as opposed to punch volume.

You have to be consistent in your regimens.
