Mike Tyson and Jake Paul square off before their upcoming fight.

Clash of Generations – What to Expect from Mike Tyson and Jake Paul

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. The impending boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul has sparked a wave of excitement, but it also raises critical questions about the state of boxing entertainment today. On one hand, we have Mike Tyson, a legendary figure whose ferocity and skill defined an era of heavyweight boxing. On the other, Jake Paul represents a new generation, leveraging social media fame to carve out his niche in the sport.

This clash of generations is more than just a fight; it’s emblematic of a broader generational rivalry that reflects changing values in sports. While Tyson embodies the grit and discipline that once characterized professional boxing, Paul’s rise highlights an unsettling trend where celebrity status often overshadows athletic prowess. Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. The preview for this match feels less like a traditional showdown and more like a spectacle designed for entertainment rather than genuine competition.

As fans eagerly anticipate this bout, it’s essential to critically assess what this means for the future of boxing. Are we witnessing the dilution of a noble sport in favor of viral moments? Or is this fusion of old-school talent with modern-day influencers simply an evolution? Regardless, one thing is clear: as Mike Tyson steps into the ring against Jake Paul, we must confront what this matchup signifies for both boxing’s legacy and its future direction.

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. The Age Factor: Is Mike Tyson Too Old to Compete at 60+?

The question of whether Mike Tyson is too old to compete at 60+ is not just a matter of personal opinion; it raises critical concerns about age in boxing and the broader implications for longevity in sports. While Tyson has showcased impressive fitness levels, his age undeniably brings a host of health concerns that cannot be ignored.

Boxing, a sport that demands peak physical condition and quick reflexes, becomes increasingly perilous as one ages. The rigors of training and the physical toll taken during fights can exacerbate existing health issues or lead to new ones. Critics argue that even with his remarkable resilience, Tyson’s body may no longer withstand the brutal demands of professional boxing.

Moreover, the narrative surrounding veterans returning to the ring often romanticizes their past glory while glossing over the reality of their current capabilities. It’s essential to consider not only Tyson’s fitness but also how age affects cognitive function and reaction times—critical elements in boxing where split-second decisions can mean the difference between victory and serious injury.

As we ponder whether Tyson should step back into the ring, we must critically assess what it means for athletes to compete at an advanced age. Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. Is it truly a testament to enduring spirit, or does it reflect a troubling trend where entertainment overshadows athlete welfare? The conversation around Mike Tyson’s potential return should serve as a cautionary tale about prioritizing health over nostalgia in sports.

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. Jake Paul: A Controversial Figure – Good or Bad for Boxing?

Jake Paul has undeniably stirred the pot in the boxing world, but whether his influence is ultimately good or bad for the sport remains a contentious topic. On one hand, his rise as an influencer boxer has brought unprecedented attention to boxing, attracting a younger audience that traditional promoters have struggled to engage. Celebrity boxing matches featuring Paul have generated massive pay-per-view numbers, showcasing how modern marketing strategies can breathe new life into a sport often seen as stagnant.

However, this newfound popularity raises serious concerns about the integrity of boxing. Critics argue that Paul’s antics and focus on entertainment over athleticism undermine the hard work and dedication of traditional boxers who have spent years honing their craft. The spectacle surrounding influencer boxers risks diluting the sport’s rich history and legacy, reducing it to mere entertainment rather than a serious competitive endeavor.

As we witness this clash between traditional and modern boxing paradigms, it’s crucial to critically evaluate Jake Paul’s impact on the sport. Is he merely a passing fad that will fade away once the novelty wears off? Or does he represent a significant shift in how we view and consume boxing? Only time will tell if his influence will lead to lasting changes or if it will ultimately be viewed as an aberration in the storied history of boxing.

The Credit Debate: Does Jake Paul Deserve More Recognition in the Boxing World?

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. The ongoing debate surrounding Jake Paul’s place in the boxing world raises critical questions about the acknowledgment of skills and the media perception of YouTube boxers. Many argue that Paul’s rise to fame is largely a product of his social media presence rather than his dedication to training and legitimate boxing skills. This perspective often undermines the hard work he has put into honing his craft, leading to a dismissive attitude towards not only him but also other YouTube boxers attempting to carve out their niche in the sport.

While it’s easy to scoff at Paul’s past as a YouTuber, one must recognize that he has demonstrated a commitment to training that cannot be ignored. The media’s tendency to paint him as merely an entertainer overlooks the fact that he has taken on real opponents and shown significant improvement in his technique. Yet, despite these efforts, many still refuse to grant him any legitimacy within traditional boxing circles.

This raises an important question: should we continue to allow preconceived notions about social media influencers dictate our acknowledgment of their skills in sports? The conversation around Jake Paul is more than just about one individual; it reflects broader issues regarding how we value dedication and talent across different platforms and backgrounds in an evolving sporting landscape.

The Broader Implications: How This Fight Reflects the State of Modern Boxing

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. The ongoing debates within the boxing community highlight a crucial crossroads in the sport’s evolution. The boxing industry has undergone significant transformations, yet these changes often come with troubling implications. On one hand, we witness a push for modernization and fan engagement strategies that prioritize entertainment over the sport’s rich heritage. This shift raises questions about what it means to be a true boxing fan in an era increasingly dominated by spectacle fights.

Traditional matches, steeped in history and skill, are being overshadowed by events that prioritize flashy promotions and social media buzz. While this approach may attract new audiences, it risks alienating long-time fans who appreciate the artistry of boxing rather than its ability to generate viral moments. The juxtaposition of traditional bouts against spectacle fights is not merely a matter of preference; it reflects deeper issues within the sport regarding integrity, respect for its roots, and the genuine competitive spirit that once defined it.

As we observe this evolution in real-time, it’s essential to critically assess how these trends will shape the future of boxing. Will we continue to allow engagement strategies focused solely on entertainment value to dictate our understanding of what makes a fight worthy? Or will we find ways to honor both tradition and innovation without compromising the essence of what boxing truly represents?

Assessing the Impact of Tyson vs. Paul on Boxing’s Future and Legacy

The recent bout between Tyson and Paul has stirred considerable debate within the boxing community, raising important questions about the sport’s future and legacy. While some may view this matchup as a fascinating crossover event, it is crucial to critically assess its implications for boxing as a serious sport.

First and foremost, the fight exemplifies a troubling trend where celebrity status takes precedence over genuine athleticism. The spectacle of Tyson, a legendary figure in boxing history, facing off against Paul, known more for his YouTube fame than his fighting prowess, risks undermining the legitimacy of the sport. This raises concerns about whether traditional boxers will be overshadowed by influencers seeking quick fame through staged events rather than rigorous training and dedication.

Moreover, the focus on entertainment rather than skill can dilute boxing’s rich heritage. Fans of the sport cherish its competitive nature and historical significance; however, bouts like Tyson vs. Paul threaten to reduce it to mere spectacle. If these celebrity matches continue to dominate headlines, they may inadvertently steer potential new talent away from pursuing boxing as a serious profession.

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. In conclusion, while Tyson vs. Paul may attract attention and generate revenue in the short term, we must critically evaluate how such events affect boxing’s long-term legacy. The sport deserves better than being reduced to gimmicks; it should celebrate true athletes who embody discipline and skill rather than transient fame.

The Backstory: Canelo’s Reign and Berlanga’s Meteoric Rise

Canelo Alvarez has long been considered one of boxing’s pound-for-pound kings, dominating multiple weight classes with his exceptional skills and power. His journey to the top has been marked by victories over numerous world-class opponents, cementing his status as a boxing icon. On the other hand, Edgar Berlanga has emerged as a rising star in the sport, capturing the attention of fans and experts alike with his explosive knockout power. The undefeated super middleweight has garnered a reputation for his devastating first-round finishes, earning him the nickname “The Chosen One. “As Berlanga continues to climb the ranks, speculation grows about a potential showdown with Canelo. This matchup would pit the established champion against the hungry up-and-comer, creating a clash of styles and generations that could redefine the landscape of the division. Boxing enthusiasts are eager to see if Berlanga’s raw power and youthful energy can overcome Canelo’s experience and technical prowess. The buildup to this fight has already begun to generate buzz within the boxing community, with fans debating the potential outcome and its implications for both fighters’ legacies.

Canelo Alvarez Unparalleled Skills and Experience

Canelo Alvarez has established himself as one of the most formidable boxers of his generation. His professional record boasts an impressive number of wins, with very few losses, showcasing his dominance in the ring. Throughout his career, Canelo has captured world titles in multiple weight classes, from light middleweight to light heavyweight, demonstrating his versatility and skill across different divisions. Alvarez’s fighting style is characterized by his exceptional counterpunching ability and his masterful use of angles. He possesses remarkable head movement and footwork, allowing him to evade opponents’ attacks while setting up his own devastating combinations. Canelo’s power is evident in his high knockout percentage, with many of his victories coming by way of stoppage. Technically, Canelo is known for his precision and timing. He excels at cutting off the ring and applying intelligent pressure, forcing his opponents into vulnerable positions. His ability to adapt his strategy mid-fight and make tactical adjustments has proven crucial in overcoming various styles of opponents.

Berlanga’s Explosive Knockout Power and Youthful Ambition

Edgar Berlanga, known as “The Chosen One,” has quickly become one of boxing’s most intriguing prospects due to his exceptional knockout power and impressive record. The super middleweight fighter from Puerto Rico began his professional career with an unprecedented streak of 16 first-round knockouts, a feat that caught the attention of boxing enthusiasts worldwide. Berlanga’s fighting style is characterized by his aggressive approach and devastating punching power, particularly in his right hand. He combines this power with good footwork and ring IQ, allowing him to efficiently cut off the ring and trap his opponents. His ability to end fights early has not only made him a fan favorite but has also accelerated his rise through the ranks of professional boxing. Despite his youth, Berlanga has shown remarkable poise and ambition. He has expressed his desire to become a world champion and has been working tirelessly to improve his skills and round out his game. As he faces increasingly tougher competition, Berlanga has been focusing on developing his stamina and technical abilities to complement his natural power.

The Clash of Styles: Canelo’s Precision vs. Berlanga’s Brute Force

Canelo Alvarez, known for his surgical precision and masterful counterpunching, brings a refined technical approach to the ring. His ability to slip punches and deliver devastating body shots has made him one of the sport’s elite. Alvarez’s footwork allows him to control distance effectively, often luring opponents into traps before unleashing his own combinations. In contrast, Edgar Berlanga relies heavily on his raw power and aggressive style. His knockout streak in the early stages of his career showcased his ability to end fights quickly with thunderous punches. Berlanga’s style is more straightforward, focusing on pressuring his opponents and looking for opportunities to land heavy blows. The clash between these two styles presents an intriguing tactical battle. Canelo Alvarez experience and ring IQ may allow him to neutralize Berlingo’s power by using angles and timing to avoid big shots. However, Berlanga’s youth and strength could pose problems if he manages to cut off the ring and force Canelo into exchanges. Key factors in this matchup include Canelo’s ability to weather early storms and Berlanga’s stamina in later rounds. The outcome may hinge on whether Berlanga can land a game-changing punch or if Canelo can gradually break down his opponent with consistent, precise attacks.

HOW CAN BOXING BE RESTORED TO RESPECTABILITY?

Fix pro boxing. What is the remedy to fix professional boxing? The answer is simple. Fighters should get a frequent fighter bonus tacked on their purse. It should be a enormous bonus check. This way fighters would have incentive to fight more often, instead of once a year. In addition professional fighters should be required to have a minimum of six professional sanctioned bouts a year. If that fight quota is not met. Then the penalty for not reaching the fight requirement should be enormous fines and penalties. These two stipulations will singlehandedly restore professional boxing to its once glorified lead of all combat sports.

CANELO ALVAREZ TAKING A POWERFUL RIGHT HAND PUNCH FROM FLOYD MAYWEATHER.

WHY A MANDATORY SIX FIGHT RULE WILL FIX BOXING.

Any fighter that’s living a fighters life in shape should be able to get in fighting shape in 2 months. So fighters should be required to fight 6 times a year or be penalized/taxed a enormous fee for not making the 6 fight minimum. Again, this would give incentive to fighters, promoters, managers and even trainers to get these fighters in the ring, as well as fix pro boxing. This would also eventually lead to fighters fighting each other instead of sitting on their belts. Too many champions in the same weight class claiming to be the best.

FIX PRO BOXING, HOW TODAYS FIGHT FANS ARE CHEATED.

All the bickering about who’s the best will cease because we will KNOW who the best is after they fight. The real winner in this will be the boxing fans. As it is now, the fans have to endure rumors of fights CONSTANTLY. But almost never does the fight actually materialize. And when it does its usually once a year regardless of weight class. Fighters in the 50’s & 60’s fought multiple times a year.70’s & 80’s also seen fighters and champions fighting frequently. Today’s champions fight on average once a year. Some even every 2 years.

WHY BOXING DOES NOT NEED ANYMORE PODCASTERS OR CONTENT CREATORS TO FIX PRO BOXING.

What the fluck happened? It’s like social media has turned the boxing game into TALKING about fights instead of actually FIGHTING fights. You know why? Because the majority of boxing fans today are all talk and no action. That’s why you got content creators and Podcasters talking, talking, talking. Talking strategies. Discussing potential match-ups. Talking possibilities. Talking about everything except results. You can’t talk results if there is no FIGHT.

WHAT IS BOXINGS YAPPING PHENOMENON?

You see most these wannabe boxing experts never fought. Would never throw a punch at nothing. As a matter a fact they talk about stuff they are petrified to do in real life. This type of culture in boxing leads to the yapping phenomenon. This puts the value on yapping about fighting, instead of actually fighting. You see, real men value results. These new school jackasses like to talk about possibilities, like their on the VIEW.

The only reason new school jackasses say things like, “I ENJOY THE ARTISTRY AND SKILL “is because they know they would never have the balls to get in a ring and go toe to toe with anybody. So they say artistry bull$h!t is good. And firefights are bad. And if you say firefights are what makes legendary fights. They answer with disrespectful comments about Muhammad Ali. Or they talk about making your money and getting out the game healthy. Healthy is cool, but tell me a legendary fight in the last 5 or 10 years. EXACTLY!!

HOW TO SPOT THE CROOKS IN PROFESSIONAL BOXING?

We are treated to slap-boxing, tap tap your it, bull$h!t fights. And have to pay MORE money every time. No, the answer is mandatory yearly fights across all weight classes. And mandatory penalties and fines if requirements are not met. You don’t need every boxing commission in the world on board to make this happen. Each individual commission and promoters could easily make this stipulation a staple in every promotional contract. And those that DONT. Well they would easily be identified as the element that’s wrong with boxing.

WHAT IS PRO BOXING?

Professional boxing, or prizefighting, is regulated, sanctioned boxing. Professional boxing bouts are fought for a purse that is divided between the boxers as determined by contract. Most professional bouts are supervised by a regulatory authority to guarantee the fighters’ safety. Most high-profile bouts obtain the endorsement of a sanctioning body, which awards championship belts, establishes rules, and assigns its own judges and referees.

NEW-SCHOOL TRAINERS VS OLD-SCHOOL TRAINERS. WHO IS BETTER?

New-school trainers vs Old-school trainers. An old-school trainer is always a better choice over a new-school trainer. You ask Punchingbagskunk.com resident boxing expert Greg Townes why? Old-school trainers have experience as well as knowledge. New-school trainers only have knowledge.

New-school trainers might be able to teach you to throw a punch in battle…maybe! But they are not qualified to prepare you for the mental battle all fighters go through prior to fights. They can teach you how to knock someone down. But they cant teach you how to get up from a knockdown.

Tyson Fury Boxer

They are familiar with teaching the X’s and O’s, but not the intangibles concerning boxing. Things like mental preparation. Pre-fight fear and even overconfidence. New-school trainers can build up muscles but cant build confidence. They can tell you where to throw a hook, but cant mentally prepare you to step into the danger zone to land the hook on anything but the heavy bag.

Punchingbagskunk resident boxing expert Greg Townes speaks on this topic at length in the article HOW TO BECOME A GREAT FIGHTER.

PETRONNELLIS HAGLER

boxer‘s training depends largely on the point in their career at which he or she is situated. If the boxer is just a beginner, a minimal training routine might consist of learning how to hit a heavy bag, a speed bag, or a double end bag (a small bag with a cord on top and bottom connecting it to the floor and ceiling) as well as doing shadowboxing in front of a mirror, skipping ropecalisthenics and jogging every day, as well as an occasional practice bout inside the ring (sparring). Most beginning boxers will spend most of their early careers conditioning and establishing the fundamentals. For the amateur or professional boxer preparing for a competition or bout, however, training is much more stringent. Boxing is widely considered one of the most physically demanding sports in the world.

WHAT IS BOXING REALLY ABOUT, MIND OR BODY?

Goofy stick play and patty cake pad work do nothing to prepare a fighter for real combat. And new-school trainers love to work the pads with people they are training. Boxing is about confidence not physical strength. You build a fighters confidence so when they are ready to take that ring walk and step into the boxing ring, they are fighting machines. They will believe they are the greatest. And as a man thinketh……you know the rest.

WHO IS MIKE TYSON? THE OLD-SCHOOL FIGHTER TRAINED BY A OLD-SCHOOL TRAINER.

Michael Gerard Tyson (born June 30, 1966) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2005. Nicknamed “Iron Mike”[3] and “Kid Dynamite” in his early career, and later known as “The Baddest Man on the Planet”,[4] Tyson is considered to be one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time.[5] He reigned as the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990. Tyson won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, 12 of them in the first round.

Claiming his first belt at 20 years, four months, and 22 days old, Tyson holds the record as the youngest boxer ever to win a heavyweight title.[6] He was the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles, as well as the only heavyweight to unify them in succession. The following year, Tyson became the lineal champion when he knocked out Michael Spinks in 91 seconds of the first round.[7] In 1990, Tyson was knocked out by underdog Buster Douglas[8] in one of the biggest upsets in history.

WHY DAVIS vs HANEY WOULD SAVE BOXING.

This video explains why Gervonta Davis vs Devin Haney, the rumored professional boxing match of world welterweight boxing champion Gervonta versus world welterweight boxing champion Devin could be the savior of the sport of boxing. Punchingbagskunk resident boxing expert Greg Townes delivers his usual boxing wisdom concerning the boxing game. This video is a case study in not only the mind of a professional prize fighter, but also the psychology behind what constitutes bravery. Greg compares the proposed match between Gervonta and Devin to the epic 1981 welterweight battle between the legendary fighters Thomas Hearns and Ray Leonard.

Can Davis vs Haney save boxing?

BOXING NEEDS GERVONTA DAVIS vs DEVIN HANEY. IS MONEY RUINING THE PROUD SPORT OF BOXING?

Floyd Mayweather has helped Adrien Broner as a mentor like he helps Gervonta Davis
Gervonta Davis mentor Floyd Mayweather

He talks about the mentality behind what fighters think about the serious dangers they face each and every time they step into the squared circle. Do fighters think about eye injuries like retina tears like Ray Leonard endured? Expert Greg answers that question in depth. Greg talks about words like honor and courage. He feels these important elements to boxing is lacking in todays boxing game. Greg feels that money plays a major role in the slow destruction of the very fabric that holds boxing together. A fabric that was sewn together by a host of brave warriors who laid the foundation to the noble sport of boxing. Gervonta Davis vs Devin Haney saves.

WHY IS BOXING LIKE NO OTHER SPORT?

What made William Wallace stand up to the English king against overwhelming odds? We explore these interesting mysteries before Greg provides the answers to that question. What drove Apollo Creed to the point of obsession to need to fight Rocky Balboa when he already beat him according to the judges scorecards? Punchingbagskunk feels these things are connected to boxing. That’s why boxing is like no other sport. Boxing is unique in that it demands every ounce of will power to reach the highest levels of the sport.

WHO ARE THE NEW HEAVY HITTERS IN BOXING SHOES?

With UFC fighters like Conner McGregor competing with established professional boxers like Floyd Mayweather, it makes you wonder where boxing is headed. If successful YouTube multi-millionaires like Jake Paul can leap frog all other world class fighters to secure major fights, what is going on in boxing? What does it mean to lace up boxing shoes? Do you know the purpose of putting on hand wraps? What is the true meaning behind putting on boxing gloves? Greg goes to the common denominator to give you the answer to these questions. Anybody can punch a punching bag. But can anyone be a boxer? Is boxing dead? Greg lets you know in this video.

Gervonta Davis vs Devin Haney asks is Jake Paul boxings heavy hitter.

Maybe Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney don’t really know how much is riding on their boxing match. They could be the savior of boxing. Punchingbagskunk.com

Davis vs Romero buzz picking up steam. The talk about a match between boxing superstar Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero seems to be all fight fans are talking about right now. Fresh off his convincing TKO win over Mario Barrios, Tank seems poised to take over the mantle left vacant by his mentor Floyd Mayweather. According to Stephen Espinoza SHOWTIME president, Tank Davis (25-0-0) 24KO’s will be returning to the ring in December. Potential opponents are floating. None as enticing as Rolando (Rolly) Romero.

GERVONTA DAVIS , ROLANDO ROMERO BUZZ PICKING UP STEAM

Punchingbagskunk Boxing Media Inc. Resident boxing expert Greg Townes has confirmed through his sources, that Romero is at the top of the list for Gervonta (Tank) Davis next fight opponent. Davis vs Romero buzz is abound. Rolando Romero (14-0-0) 12 KO’s has been busy setting social media on fire saying he will be fighting Gervonta Davis.

Potential next opponent for Gervonta Davis, Rolando Romero.

Hypothetically speaking. If a fight between these two materialized, it would be a plus for the boxing community. Two undefeated, young fighters meeting in their prime. That in itself is a rare occurrence in the current boxing landscape. Boxing has been taking a beating from the boxing purest for its acceptance of Guys like Conner McGregor and Jake Paul. McGregor being a MMA champion not boxing champion. And Jake Paul being a sensational YouTube millionaire.

Not like McGregor and Paul, Rolando is a legitimate threat to dethrone Gervonta. Romero has heavy hands and boxing ability. Its safe to say he cracks pretty hard with his boxing gloves at 14-0-0 with 12 of those wins coming via knockout. With that said, its common knowledge that Tank Davis can bomb. His uppercut is one of the most feared punches in the entire boxing game. opponents like Leo Santa Cruz, Mario Barrios and Yuriokis Gamboa can attest to that.

GERVONTA AND ROLANDO ARE UNDER THE SAME PROMOTIONAL BANNER. DOES THAT MAKE THE FIGHT EASY TO MAKE?

Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather
Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather

Both these young fighters are under the same promotional banner. That makes the fight easier to make. Having competing managers and promoters can complicate negotiations. Floyd Mayweather is on record saying he wants to keep everything in house. Brilliant move from Floyd from a strictly business angle. Floyd has been known to make boxing decisions based purely on the potential to maximize profits. You cannot argue with his success.

Muhammad Ali was not the greatest. Is that insulting to Ali?

Muhammad Ali was not the greatest. Now, I’m sure you came to raise hell about somebody having the audacity to say something like that about Ali. I will attempt to explain my reasoning.

If you have a nice comfortable pair of slippers. These worn out, beat up, ragged slippers sitting at the foot of your bed become…well,….. lets just say..umm, familiar.

When someone tells you, HEY! Its time for a new pair of slippers, your reluctant to change them. I’m not changing them for a cheaper pair. You will not change them for a nicer pair.

You will not change because they are familiar, your comfortable. This is how advertising agencies develop Brand loyalty.

They drill you over and over with images and jingles until your FAMILIAR! Even when logic says one thing, familiar comfortability wins out.

You say something to someone or yourself enough times, and they, YOU start to believe it. OK so, are we gonna leave emotion at the door now?

Why Muhammad Ali was Not the Greatest Body Puncher. Was he just a Headhunter

For all Ali’s natural physical gifts, and there are plenty. You can still say Muhammed Ali was not the greatest. He had some loopholes like any other fighter. Ali was not a particularly great body-puncher.

As a matter a fact I think it is safe to say he wasn’t a body puncher at all. When you think of great body-punchers like Mike (The Bodysnatcher) McCallum, (Irish) Micky Ward, Julio Cesar Chavez, Alexis Arguello, and Muhammad Ali’s greatest nemesis, (Smoking) Joe Frazier, Ali just doesn’t rank. He was primarily a headhunter.

Did Muhammad Ali have the best jab punch?

When you talk about specific punches like the universally accepted most important punch in boxing, the jab. It is common knowledge Ali’s jab was without a doubt laser sharp.

His jab could close eyes, set up combinations, and basically win fights by itself. But with that said, is there anyone that truly knows boxing that will say Ali’s jab was stronger and more powerful than Sonny Liston’s jab?

There are some that argue that Ali’s ex-sparring partner Larry Holmes actually had a more deadly accurate jab. Fighters throw the jab punch different. Some fighters have powerful jabs. Others have lightning fast jabs. Many boxers through their jab from different angles. Punchingbagskunk resident boxing expert and retired professional fighter Greg Townes shows you how in the informative article, “TEACHING THE JAB PUNCH, BOXING EXPERT”

LARRY-HOLMES-ALI-SPARRING

It’s not bragging if you can back it up.

Muhammad Ali

Ali’s right hand cross was dangerous. And when he decided to use it as a lead, it was virtually unstoppable. He put Cleveland (Big Cat) Williams down with it as well as (Big) George Foreman and many others. But a solid argument can be made that Thomas (The Hitman) Hearns right hand was more explosive.

We can go to uppercuts, left hooks and do the same analysis and come up with one or two or more fighters that had a more effective punch than Muhammad Ali.

https://www.pinterest.com/Noonboobie/punchingbagskunkcom/

Did Ali have the best footwork? Float like a butterfly Footwork

There are very few who can argue that Muhammad Ali didn’t have the greatest footwork in the history of boxing. After all, a heavyweight who can move like that was never seen prior to Ali.

And to this day there is absolutely nobody who can float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. Drew (Bundini) Brown nailed that one solid.

Now if You want to say guys like Pernell (Sweetpea) Whitaker or even (Sugar) Ray Leonard had better footwork, you will lose when you take into account Muhammad Ali could put them both in his pocket and dance around the ring. Ali, hands down winner.

Was Ali’s Confidence his best fighting asset?

An old boxing sage once said, ( I think it was Cus D’Amato who said it), if you got two fighters evenly matched in every category.

The only thing that separates them from each other to determine who wins their fight is heart.

Who wants it more. I believe what made Muhammad Ali the greatest fighter to ever live had nothing to do with his skill or even physical gifts. What made him the greatest is his belief.

When he said I’m the greatest, he believed it. It was not lip service.

Look up some of Ali’s famous quotes and you will see. Example: (I AM THE GREATEST, I SAID THAT EVEN BEFORE I KNEW I WAS. Example: I HATED EVERY MINUTE OF TRAINING, BUT I SAID, DON’T QUIT. SUFFER NOW AND LIVE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE AS A CHAMPION).

DID MUHAMMAD ALI BELIEVE HE WAS THE GREATEST?

You see, he believed in himself. Anybody can say something, but do you BELIEVE it?

That faith of knowing he was put here on this earth to be great is the nucleus of the energy source that even in its embryonic stages, was enough to convince a young Ali that he was special. Convincing him that there was nobody like him.

If you have no natural talent and you work hard, you can become good, maybe even a champion. If you have natural talent and don’t work hard the worst you can BE is good.

But if you have Natural talent and work your butt off you ascend to that special room of greatness.

You need natural talent to be great, but it’s not a lock, because it can be squandered by lackadaisical work ethics.

HOWARD-COSELL-ALI
HOWARD-COSELL-ALI

Ali was GREAT because he was meant to be GREAT. Surviving a self imposed 3 year lay-off, from a sport that eats individuals that have the audacity to take even one year off tells you the level of confidence that was in this man called MUHAMMAD ALI.

Speed bag requires you to position the bag platform at least a foot above your head, leaving the actual bag above eye level.

Correct positioning of your hands should be slightly higher than they would be in a traditional combat boxing stance.

As you begin your drill, you will immediately notice the incredible burn in your shoulders as well as your arms and neck muscles.

Ana Julaton banging on the speed bag.

The elevation of your arms, along with the controlled fury in which you conduct your training will have you punching the bag swivel off the platform for your first KO in no time flat.

Also keep in mind that even the added weight of the bag gloves contribute to giving you ridiculous shoulder definition people will envy.

CAN YOU DEVELOP AWESOME HAND EYE COORDINATION DUE TO THE SPEED BAG TRAINING?

ALI-HITTING-SPEED BAG

One of the major benefits of hitting the speed bag as well as these other drills, Focus Pad drills, and Double End Bag drills is that they sharpen your Hand-Eye Coordination.

The difference between raising your hand in victory or having a meme created of you stumbling around the ring after getting blasted could simply be the ability of you to capitalize on an opening the instant it presents itself.

Bruce Lee was all of 147lbs. But he was able to take down much bigger opponents with keen reflexes.

An old boxer through years of training has no problem seeing the opportunities to strike. It’s just incredibly difficult for his/her reflexes to capitalize on the openings.

This type of training will allow you to play chess while everybody else is playing checkers.

THE SPEED BAG HELPS WITH FOOT-SPEED AND PLACEMENT

BOXING AND SPEED.

If your hitting a Free Standing Punching Bag, the object is to move around the bag.

This is also an essential element to punching the bag. That is why the speed bag is designed with the bag swivel.

TRX GO Suspension Trainer System, Full-Body Workout for All Levels & Goals, Lightweight & Portable, Fast, Fun & Effective Workouts, Use as Home-Gym Equipment or for Outdoor Workouts.

THE SPEED BAG

While your striking the bag you move around the bag, hitting it from all angles.

This has a two-pronged effect. First by moving it forces you to adjust your striking angle as to keep the rhythm of the punching going, causing you to get your feet in position to not miss a beat.

This is how you develop proper distance for striking effectively.

You will miss here and there as a beginner, but you will see as you continue to focus your Speed Punching on the bag, you will soon be smacking the bag around without even looking directly at the speed bag.

This would be your new found ability to be in the right position.

There is a saying in boxing circles that all Grandma wants to know is the final results.

If your getting the snot beat out of you for nine rounds, but you knock your opponent out in the tenth round, nobody remembers the nine rounds.

Confidence comes from success, success comes from hard work. If you become a beast on the speed bag you will undoubtedly start to believe your good. That’s confidence.

WHAT IS CONFIDENCE?

Confidence is a state of being clear-headed either that a hypothesis or prediction is correct or that a chosen course of action is the best or most effective. Confidence comes from a Latin word ‘fidere’ which means “to trust”; therefore, having self-confidence is having trust in one’s self. Arrogance or hubris, in comparison, is the state of having unmerited confidence—believing something or someone is correct or capable when evidence or reasons for this belief are lacking. Overconfidence or presumptuousness is excessive belief in someone (or something) succeeding, without any regard for failure. Confidence can be a self-fulfilling prophecy as those without it may fail or not try because they lack it and those with it may succeed because they have it rather than because of an innate ability.

Boxing fans are on life support because of guys like Charlo Alvarez Golovkin.

Charlo Alvarez Golovkin. Some people can’t understand why the sport of boxing for all its glitz and glamour is a fraction of what it was in its glory years.

Jermell Charlo, Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez are no Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns. And I must add Roberto Duran also. These guys are not even close.

Real boxing fans miss the days when the best fought the best. Two great warriors doing battle.

Today there is absolutely no belt pride. Guys throw belts in the garbage for a couple of extra dollars. I don’t know where this selfish attitude of it’s all about money came from.

When did this cancer sneak into boxing. Boxing has never been about the money. It was about becoming a Champion. Being able to unequivocally say I AM THE BEST!!!

GENNADY GOLOVKIN
GENNADY GOLOVKIN

There where a multitude of fighters who didn’t get rich moneywise, but where RICH!

Guys would be broke living in a rooming house, but if you checked their closet there would be the one thing in the world they were proud of in there.

An old rusted Championship belt. That’s called belt pride.

https://www.pinterest.com/Noonboobie/punchingbagskunkcom/

Some of these men carried the scars of a brutal career on their faces, and the wars had taken terrible tolls on there bodies and minds.

But if you got close enough to them to listen to their raspy voice, they would whisper to you “Hey Son, Check This Out; and pull an old faded, ancient newspaper clipping from out of their pocket and proudly show you a picture of them in their heyday.

You see they had something better than money. They had memories of a time when they were the best, the CHAMPION!!

JERMELL CHARLO

WHY THE BUSINESS WORLD IS RUINING BOXING TRADITION.

Todays group of fighters, (and I use that word loosely) are more businessman than warrior. When the hell did the Harvard business template become the accepted modus operandi for the measure of a successful boxing career?

CANELO ALVAREZ NEXT FIGHT
CANELO ALVAREZ NEXT FIGHT

Words like Masters degree, MBA, Marketing, Finance, Business Analytics, Target Audience, Demographics have NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO place in boxing, or dam well should not have.

Every young kid in boxing now is more concerned about getting famous on social media than actually learning how to fight.

IS CANELO ALVAREZ OVER-RATED? BOXING EXPERT GREG TOWNES SAYS YES.

Promoters give the fighters tickets to sell now to their own fights now. What kind of bull$hit is that? Kids fight 3 or 4 fights now and brag about being 4-0 with 4 kos.

These same kids think they deserve to be in stadiums that hold 70,000 people, when they cant sell 4 tickets.

WHY THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS NOBODY WILL FIGHT DEMETRIUS ANDRADE

Demetrius Andrade
Demetrius Andrade

When I hear Charlo, Alvarez, and Golovkin talk about how they are the best it aggravates me.

Not because they will not face Demetrius Andrade. But because being a ex-pro fighter, I can’t for the sake of me understand how they can sleep at night.

Take Canelo for instance. He would rather vacate his belt, which really means throw it in the trash than fight a man who called him a bitch on YouTube over and over for years.

Now I know you can counter with sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. But we are not in the 4th grade.

YOU A BITCH CANELO.

If art imitates life. Then when Apollo Creed called Rocky a chicken in Rocky 2, and that got Rocky in the ring, then calling a supposed proud champion a bitch should be enough to do the trick.

Is it gonna take Demetrius resorting to Clubber Lang tactics and inviting his woman to a romp in the sack with the line “BRING YOUR PRETTY LITTLE SELF TO MY PAD AND LET ME SHOW YOU A REAL MAN” before he grow some cojones and tells his master Im fighting, I don’t care what you say.

Hey pretty lady, Let me show you a real man

Clubber Lane

Canelo, it’s time you stood up to Oscar. He is doing the same thing to Demetrius that Bob Arum did to Floyd Mayweather back in the day.

Arum knew you were the golden boy gold medalist which made you marketable. And as sad as this is to say, the black community does not come to fill seats for their fighters like the Hispanic community supports theirs.

So he chose the money. YOU are choosing the money now.

WHY IS IT DON KING PUT ON QUALITY FIGHTS

Which brings me to Charlo and his puppet master Al Haymon.

This guy was on record recently saying when Eddie Hearn sent him an offer, he sent it to Big Al at headquarters, and was told to ignore the offer.

And to answer reporters by saying it is not enough money. What is enough money?

Eddie-Hearn_-I-Dont-Want-Boxnation-To-Go
Eddie-Hearn_-I-Don’t-Want-Boxnation-To-Go

The excuse that he is not known enough translated means, the fight is not worth enough money.

Whatever happened to let’s fight because I’m the Champ? He has a belt.

He is the most dangerous fighter out there. Did Ray Leonard duck Tommy Hearns? Boxing is dying because there was a time when the fan base dictated who fights who.

Fans can holler……let me scratch that, REAL fans can holler and are ignored. These days boxing is like politics in that, politicians can be jackasses and the people have no power to change anything anymore.

They basically say, WE HAVE THE POWER so shut up. We will do whatever we like. You don’t like it, too bad.

WHO IS AL HAYMON

Al Haymon (born April 21, 1955) is an American businessman and boxing manager. He was the manager to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and has won the Boxing Writers of America Manager of the Year Award a total of five times.

WHY DEMETRIUS ANDRADE IS BLACKBALLED IN BOXING

I can’t prove this. And it’s just a theory of mine, but I sincerely think this whole blacklist of Demetrius Andrade is do to nothing but hurt feelings and stubbornness.

I remember Demetrius was fresh out the Olympics. Everybody knew he was the man and wanted to sign him. Al Haymon offered him a deal to fight one of the Charlos with the intention of making him a superstar.

He was supposed to fight on a network. Demetrius was contacted by Roc Nation Sports. They offered him a ton of money. Problem was he had an obligation to Al.

RYAN-GARCIA-
CANELO STABLEMATE RYAN GARCIA

Contracts are a hell of a thing. Demetrius made the mistake of believing Roc Nation and reneged on the fight deal with Al, and pulled out the fight.

By the way this would technically make Charlo absolutely correct when he says Demetrius pulled out of a fight with him. Well Roc Nation pulled their offer off the table.

And Demetrius has been left in purgatory every since. He had to sue Roc Nation, and Al went on to make Charlo a star. Charlo Alvarez Golovkin all went on to superstardom.

Now it’s all water under the bridge. The casual fans are clamoring for the fight, and die-hard fans are retarded with desire to see this match-up.

People make mistakes and feelings and egos get bruised. But this is NOT a reason to ruin a guys career, or deprive the ordinary Joes the opportunity to see great fights.

Some of the people that spend $100 dollars to watch these fights on pay-per-view, are people that struggle to put a chicken leg on the dinner table.

I’m one of these people. Where is my respect?

WHY MARVIN HAGLER WOULD BEAT CHARLO, ALVAREZ AND GOLOVKIN

LEO-SANTA-CRUZ
LEO-SANTA-CRUZ

The only thing I really got to say about Golovkin is, his team doesnt think its enough money in the fight so they are really not interested.

And that all goes back to the money thing. What’s more important, money or legacy.

To all four of these great warriors thank you for giving us the opportunity to enjoy watching what years of dedication ultimately turns into.

The artistry of the greatest sport on this planet. Hats off to all four of our Champions!!

CHARLO, ALVAREZ, GOLOVKIN. WHO IS CANELO ALVAREZ?
