Marciano fought Jersey Joe Walcott for the Heavyweight championship of the world. In the fight Jersey Joe was easily out boxing Rocky. Jersey Joe had a very effective foot move that would set up his right hand perfectly. With this move he dropped Rocky in the first round. And from there he began to build up a substantial points lead over Rocky.

Rocky was noted for his endurance and began getting closer to Jersey Joe. He landed the punch. Jersey Joe to slump to the canvas unable to continue. And just like that Rocky Marciano was the heavyweight champion of the world.

Rocco Francis Marchegiano (September 1, 1923 – August 31, 1969; Italian pronunciation: [markeˈdʒaːno]), better known as Rocky Marciano (/mɑːrsiˈɑːnoʊ/, Italian: [marˈtʃaːno]), was an American professional boxer who competed from 1947 to 1955, and held the world heavyweight title from 1952 to 1956. He is the only heavyweight champion to have finished his career undefeated.^[2] His six title defenses were against Jersey Joe Walcott (from whom he had taken the title), Roland La Starza, Ezzard Charles (twice), Don Cockell and Archie Moore.
