“Its a F****G Embarrassment- Oscar De La Hoya says.

Oscar De La Hoya is annoyed at UFC president Dana White

Oscar de La Hoya seems livid concerning the current state of the once glorious profession of professional boxing. If boxing was a politician, its approval ratings would be in the toilet.

The head honcho at Golden Boy Productions Oscar De La Hoya is of the opinion that boxing needs Canelo Alvarez to survive this slide in popularity its been experiencing for too long now.

He feels Canelo is the answer. But there are other boxing pundits that feel different. As a matter a fact some boxing experts believe that Oscar and Canelos strangle hold on boxing is one of the reasons boxing is not as popular as its glory days.

Video explaining the humongous contract Canelo Alvarez signed with DAZN and Oscar De La Hoya.

The average salary for a professional prizefighter is $51,250 before taxes. This means that half the fighters active today earned LESS than this figure. Only the top 1% of fighters earn more than a million dollars a year.

That translates to 99% of active fighters earnings being less than 1 million dollars. Additionally the bottom 10% of all pro fighters earn less than $19,200 a year. You ask where is all the money going?

Well Canelo Alvarez signed a 11 fight contract worth 365 million dollars with DAZN. So zero dollars circulate in boxing unless Canelo fights. You say what about Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, Manny Pacquiao, Gennady Golovkin? They made money too right?

  1. Canelo Alvarez estimated earnings 2019 $100 million dollars.
  2. Anthony Joshua estimated earnings 2019 $70 million dollars.
  3. Deontay Wilder estimated earnings 2019 $35 million dollars.
  4. Manny Pacquiao estimated earnings 2019 $25 million dollars
  5. Gennady Golovkin estimated earnings 2019 $25 million dollars.

It was never about the money for me…it was about doing something that I loved, it was more about passion.

Dana White

IS BOXING ABOUT MONEY NOW OSCAR DE LA HOYA

So all the money made in boxing was made by five boxers. Out of hundreds of thousands of fighters across the globe five men dominated all boxing income. And take a guess who is at the top of that list. You guessed it Canelo Alvarez.

Oscar is talking about boxing popularity being in the dumps while holding the keys to the cash cow. Oscar appears frustrated with the UFC. But at least Dana White puts on competitive fights. At least Dana White doesn’t hold his sport hostage.

Boxing is dying because some people don’t care about the sport. They only care about the almighty dollar. Fighters are nothing more than Wall Street stock to them.

IS BOXING DYING

If a Cash Cow loses, his stock will plummet, and some people cannot have that happen. Some people hand picks opponents that are not dangerous for for their fighter to fight in order to preserve their investment. While they simultaneously complain about the state of boxing.

Real boxing fans are not stupid. They want quality fights. Its insulting to the everyday hard working man or woman to have to endure these circus acts disguised as competitive boxing contest, all the while paying $100 plus fees for PPV.

Putting a chicken leg on the dinner table is not as easy for the average American as it is for multi-millionaires.

Demetrius Andrade clowning Canelo Alvarez.

Jermell Charlo and Demetrius Andrade are two fighters considered too dangerous evidently by Golden Boy Productions. Jermell is a champion as well as Demetrius. There has been some history to the feud with Demetrius.

He famously called Canelo Alvarez a ” BITCH” on a video that went viral on Youtube. And while he was the WBO middleweight champion. Canelo showed zero interest in that particular belt. But mysteriously as soon as Boo Boo Andrade was stripped of the belt due to inactivity, Canelo immediately wanted, and fought for the same belt.

Oscar if you want to complain about the state of boxing. Why don’t you start by having your fighter fight the most worthy challengers available instead of whomever your gonna try to feed us for canelos next match.
