BOXING CHAMPION MARVIN HAGLER HAD AN AMAZING ABILITY TO TAKE A PUNCH

ABILITY TO TAKE A PUNCH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TAKING A PUNCH

Ability to take a punch, what your really talking about is recuperative powers, the ability to RECOVER from a punch. A fighter in good shape recovers quicker.
Out of shape fighters recover slower while some guys go down and the next round they are fine. Others remain unsteady at the start of the next round. Fight duration also has a lot to do with recuperative powers.

This is Greg, Punchingbagskunk resident boxing expert dropping some knowledge.

If a guy gets knocked out cold in the first round, he is normally fine minutes after he wakes up.
But if a guy gets knocked out cold after 11 grueling rounds, his body is depleted and he has a significant chance of sustaining permanent injury or in some cases even death.

If you’re reading this you are conscious.
A knockout victim is unconscious.

A fighter who gets hit and is busy hearing that Rocky music in his head, is operating on instinct. He is BETWEEN conscious and unconscious.

This is the reason why you should faint an opponent you think you have hurt. The logic being, when a person is in that dreamland between conscious and unconscious, the brain can’t distinguish real threats from a fake threat. Therefore the brain reacts to what it perceives as a threat…the faint.

DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE A FIGHTER

In that state of mind a fighter either discovers he has heart or he discovers his heart is pumping kool aid.

In that dreamy state fighters find themselves pondering if they REALLY want to be in these boxing gloves.

They ponder if they really want to use their head as a punching bag.
Asking themselves “am I really prepared to die in the ring”. This is what separated the men from the boys.

This is what is missing or is rapidly disappearing from boxing these new school days.

Jack Dempsey was a man who was made to be a fighter.

IS BOXING SOFT BECAUSE BOXERS ABILITY TO TAKE A PUNCH?

Punchingbagskunk resident boxing expert Greg breaks it down why boxing is soft these days as compared to the old school. This fiery rant pulls no punches.

Tap, tap, tap, point, point, point give me my money fencing baloney of today eliminates the element of danger.

The element of danger is the gatekeeper that kept cowards from participating in this honorable sport.

There is very few opportunities for fighters to truly prove their mettle these days.

Prizefights are stopped if someone breaks a fingernail.
It’s why I say boxing is soft as babyshit these days.

Does Felix Trinidad have a solid chin?
He went down every fight it seems like, only to come back and flatten the guys who put him on the canvas.

Did Marvin Hagler (God bless his soul) have a chin?
He withstood vicious punches from killers like Mugabi, Hearns, Roldan, and even Ray Leonard. And if you argue that an older Ray wasn’t a puncher, go look at the Donnie Lalonde fight.

Hagler never went down.
(Save the slip argument against Roldan)
The only time I’ve even seen him stunned was against Hearns, did he have a chin?

Did Hector Camacho take a good punch?
Hector fought EVERYBODY never getting stopped.
The only one that I witnessed clearly stun him was Edwin Rosario.

BOXING IS REALLY ABOUT HEART

In closing, chin or no chin is really not the issue.
Chin is really about HEART.

I’ve took punches to the dome since I was 10 years old and it’s really about are you willing to lay your life on the line to become a champion.

Are you willing to roll the dice with your life.

Today fighters don’t have that attitude concerning boxing in my opinion.

Today it’s all about money not HONOR.
This is why there is YouTube stars, basketball players and housewives calling themselves fighters.

Youtube star Jake Paul fighting basketball player Nate Robinson. Is this what is REALLY wrong with boxing?

Some fighters get dropped, some fighters never get dropped. But ALL fighters back in the day had to face that spiritual test.

Here is some Boxing News. The chin is about heart.
Heart is about desire and courage.

Tap, tap tap, point, point, point, give me my money requires neither.

SOME PAY TO SEE ME WIN, SOME PAY TO SEE ME LOSE. BUT THEY ALL PAY. Floyd Mayweather
